Every once in a while, I recapture that feeling of being in a library surrounded by Architecture and Design books by surfing the internet for architecture and design sites. (Although...I think I got started on this surfing expedition because I was trying to find out more about InterActive Corp...the company that owns a million websites including match.com, evite.com etc. etc...) Turns out Barry Diller of IAC commisioned Gehry to do their HQ in the Chelsea district. And also commisioned some web design firm to create a slick flash promo...watch it here: http://iacbuilding.com/interactive/content.html
But the site or rather the project that really impressed me was the Highline project that Diller Scofidio Renfro and Field Operations have designed in the same neighborhood. Learn more about it by visiting : http://www.thehighline.org/design/prelim_design/index.htm
p.s. I visited Chelsea in July...the IAC building just looks odd in daylight on a Saturday...not odd in the usual Gehry way...like EMP seattle way...just odd odd.
